A Story About Self-Righteousness

November 22, 2020 Speaker: Nathan Hobert Series: Stories of the Kingdom

Passage: Luke 18:9–14

Jesus deconstructs everything we thought we knew about relating to God. He shows us that the main problem in us is self-righteousness, which is building a record in order to be accepted. This creates a person who is driven by ego, looks down on others, and at best views God as a impersonal observer. The antidote to this is approaching is receiving a righteousness outside of us found in the Gospel.
